TRAIN AND RUN WITH STEFANO BALDINI

Stefano Baldini is one of the most important Italian runner and marathon champion, he won the Gold Medal of the Athen's Olympic Game marathon in 2004.

Some advice from Stefano Baldini on supplementing and tackling the wall

It is extremely important to replace lost fluids, in any climate. Take some practical supplements with you during the race: some can be fastened to your bib, such as the Enervit GT Sport tablets. Then take easily assimilated liquid carbs, at the 20th km and 30th kilometres. I recommend taking them just before the water stops, and drinking immediately after the stop.
Someone reach the wall first, someone later, and some never do. If this physical collapse arrives, it means you have used up too much energy in the first part of the race. The problem can be overcome by setting intermediate objectives, by fighting it with psychology, and by making the most of the water stops. I recommend running progressively, keeping a margin of energy during the first half, to be exploited during the second half. Psychologically speaking, overcoming athletes in trouble, running faster than them, is a great feeling!
